Dryer Vent Inspection in Pacific Palisades, CA

What a dryer vent inspection actually involves

The dryer gets pulled out first. We disconnect the transition hose and look at it before anything else. Crushed hose behind pedestal washer and dryer sets is the most common single fault we find. Then a camera goes into the duct from the laundry side. We count elbows, note material, and look for sag. Foil duct that droops between joists collects lint at the low point. Outside, we check the termination with the dryer running.

Where that termination sits changes the inspection. Prewar bungalows in the Palisades often vent straight through a service porch wall, a short run, easy to verify. Ranch homes from the 1950s and 60s push through a garage wall or garage roof. Newer two-story and hillside houses have second-floor laundry rooms venting vertically to a roof jack. Condo and townhome stacked closets sometimes share a vertical chase with neighboring units, which limits what any camera can confirm.

Findings we write down: flapper hoods stuck shut with lint, bird guard screens packed solid, nesting in canyon-adjacent garage and roof terminations, and runs exceeding the dryer manufacturer's length limit once elbows are counted.

You can check one thing yourself. Run the dryer, stand at the hood, feel for airflow.
